I can't believe that I have consented to call this 'jelly', because I actually (being a British gal) call it jam. Peanut butter, banana, and...jam. Does that have the same ring to it? I'll let you guys decide.
The recipe actually calls for berries, and neither jam nor jelly. That's one of the reasons that this smoothie is so nutrition packed and good for you: no added sugar, preservatives etc, it contains at least one of your '5 a day' from the berries and banana, and some protein from the milk and peanut butter. No why-do-ASDA-not-sell-this ingredients (cough *chia seeds/ flaxmeal* cough) either, all simple foods that you can find in any supermarket.
It may be a little cold for smoothies this time of year, but in Britain I think that we can agree it is cold most of the time. Because, unlike in the world of "jelly", we don't seem to have defined seasons anymore...
That said, I sincerely hope that you continue to enjoy the festive season, and also this smoothie. Feel free to let me know what you think of it in the comments below- oh, and whether you're from the jam/jelly side of the pond.
Ingredients
- 1 banana (sliced up in to coins, and frozen overnight)
- Small handful of berries (I used a mixture of strawberries and raspberries)
- 1/2 cup plant based milk (as usual, feel free to use any other milk)
- Pinch of cinnamon, to taste
- 1 tbsp. smooth peanut butter (I used the Meridian brand)
Method
- So lets get started: into a blender place the peanut butter, and berries. Blitz the ingredients until just combined.
- Remove the banana from the freezer and throw it into the blender; blend until it begins to take on a creamy consistency, resembling soft serve ice cream.
- At this point add in the cinnamon and milk, blending until smooth, before adding in the water and continuing to blend until the desired consistency is reached.
